We Are Open for Submissions

Submission Call for Spring-Summer, Issue #13

The editors of Word Fountain, the Literary Magazine of the Osterhout Free Library are happy to announce that we are once again open for submissions. We’re starting early this year in order to switch to a spring-summer and fall-winter printing schedule. The deadline for this window is March 31st.

For issue #13, to be released in May, we are looking for previously unpublished short fiction, poetry, and flash fiction. If your work blurs the lines between those categories, we won’t mind at all. We try to pack a lot of variety into about 50 pages, so we prefer short pieces of concise language with a compelling voice. There is no theme for this issue, so the topic is up to you. You can check out our recent issues to get a feel for what we’ve published as well as what we haven’t; we’re always open to something new.

We have a strong local and regional audience as well as a growing national and global readership. We have featured many writers from Northeast Pennsylvania along with poets and story tellers from all over the country, and even as far away as the United Kingdom and Nigeria. We particularly enjoy showcasing new and emerging writers right alongside those with experience and previous publication.

If you have submitted before, please note that our email address for submissions has changed. For the complete list of guidelines and instructions on how to send us your work, please click here to go to our Submissions page.

Submissions are currently closed.

We will open for submissions again soon. Meanwhile, please check out a preview of our current issue, #12, Winter 2017 and find out how to get a print copy yourself. Our Summer 2016 issue is already sold out but you can click here to view the online experience and find a downloadable PDF.
